When You Yell

February 6, 2008

When you yell I slip
far downdowndown
until I’m almost out.
When you yellyellyell
you make me want
to join a silent cult.
I will not be sucked
up by the sound
of yellyellyell–I’ll be
lured by soft and clear and true
to a place where my ears
don’t need muffs.

Crying

February 6, 2008

How do you know when crying is rain
that wets the dry soil for new flowers?
How do you know when crying’s a flood
that drowns the doubtful and the hopeless?
And what about the doomed?
What about the doomed?
What’s the last wish of the doomed?

When stars were enough

December 8, 2007

When stars were enough
exhaustion was sweet.
Pining and pain
were eclipsed.

but you also knew they would leave
someone they could not save.”

Genie Bottle Rage

October 2, 2007

Encapsulated crimson.
If red could kill
it might.

Too Gnawed

October 1, 2007

Sometimes I answer my cell and let
the voices of madness chew me
until my skin exposes bone
and my marrow shouts:
hey, put some clothes on!

On Second Thought

September 28, 2007

Crashing into a tree does not
seem like a peaceful resolution.
